The newly refurbished Carnival Sunshine arrived in Barcelona for the first time on 17 May following a 12-day inaugural cruise from Venice in Italy.

The 3,006-passenger vessel recently underwent a US$155 million renovation project to add the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 dining, bar and entertainment features, as well as an additional 182 staterooms.

Carnival Sunshine features many new outdoor spaces including the line’s first adult-only, three-deck Serenity retreat and the Seaside Theatre, a 270 sq ft LED movie screen. Guests can visit the SportSquare recreation complex and WaterWorks, a water park with 40 interactive water features and five slides including the racing-themed Speedway Splash and a 334-foot Twister slide.

The ship also features a range of new dining options including Ji Ji Asian Kitchen, Cucina del Capitano, Alchemy Bar and the EA Sports Bar, while passengers can enjoy entertainment in Playlist Productions and The Punchliner Comedy Club.

After departing Barcelona, Carnival Sunshine will continue its summer schedule of nine- and 12-day Mediterranean voyages until the end of October.
