Star Cruises’ SuperStar Aquarius arrived in her new Kota Kinabalu homeport in Sabah, Malaysia on 6 November.

The line commemorated the occasion with local cultural performances, as well as a memento exchange, lunch and a tour onboard the 13-deck ship. The ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun – Sabah’s minister of tourism, culture and environment – and government and port authority representatives.

“Today is a milestone moment for Star Cruises as we become the first international cruise line to homeport a ship in Kota Kinabalu,” said William Ng, COO of Star Cruises. “Sabah has been a top tourist destination for decades and this deployment denotes our commitment to make Kota Kinabalu an international cruise hub. We are confident our deployment will attract not only domestic but also regional and international passengers to Sabah.”

Between November and 30 March 2014, SuperStar Aquarius will offer a four-day cruise from Kota Kinabalu to Muara and Bintulu every Sunday. From Wednesday to Saturday, passengers can enjoy one-night high seas experiences.
