South Pacific Cruise Alliance (SPCA) is to hold the first South Pacific Cruise Forum in Tahiti this October.

The event will bring together tourism ministers, destination managers, ports and airports authorities, cruise operators, airlines, tour operators and suppliers from across the region on 16-17 October.

Meetings, discussions and conferences will highlight the development of the cruise sector in the South Pacific with the aim of further promoting the region to cruise lines.

“The South Pacific region has always been a hot spot for Australian and New Zealand cruisers but there is still so much potential for growth,” Brett Jardine, general manager of the Cruise Lines International Association Australasia, an executive partner of SPCA. “Cruise lines are continuing to open up new ports in the region and offering new itineraries that take cruisers to some of the world’s most picturesque islands.”

Tahiti, which is located near Fiji and New Zealand, will welcome 50 cruise ships and around 480,000 passengers during more than 2,600 port calls in 2015.
