Hong Kong’s Kai Tak cruise terminal, which has been designed by British architect Norman Foster, is set to receive five passenger boarding bridges (PBB) constructed by Spanish manufacturer Team Ports and Maritime.
The five-tunnel Hydra PBBs were designed at Team’s engineering centre in Barcelona and manufactured in its facilities in Monzón, Spain.
Team’s 170-tonne PBBs were designed specifically for the architecture of the terminal, enabling any ships to dock, regardless of size. Their wide structure enables vehicles, equipment and suppliers to pass under the tunnels, while allowing the continuous flow of passengers.
Three of the five PBBs have been completed and shipped to Hong Kong for installation.
