Marine connectivity provider Telenor Maritime has provided a suite of connectivity products for Ambassador Cruise Line’s first ship, Ambience.
Telenor advised on the network design and installation of the solution, which comprises of a Ku-band VSAT (very-small-aperture terminal) and mobile broadband backhaul that will provide connectivity to passengers’ devices when roaming using the mobile network onboard. The provider has over 400 roaming agreements worldwide, allowing Ambience’s passengers to stay connected whatever the ship’s location.
Bandwidth will also be provided to Ambassador to offer paid Wi-Fi to guests and crew.
“We are sailing in Europe, Caribbean, North America and Greenland - such global coverage comes at a cost,” said Gary Hides, chief technology officer at Ambassador Cruise Line. “With Telenor Maritime’s flexible business model and global connectivity, we can be sure that we are paying the right price for the capacity we need."
