Telenor Maritime is to install a mobile ecosystem onboard Finnlines ro-pax ferries to enable guests and crew to stream video, contact family and friends, access social media and other online sites.

Chosen for its experience, expertise and the value for money it provides, Telenor Maritime installed a mobile ecosystem comprising 3G, premium wi-fi, Ka-VSAT and mobile broadband backhaul services onboard Finnmaid six months ago. Following the success of the pilot, the company will now extend the ecosystem to other ro-pax vessels in the fleet.

“We are continually looking to develop the customer experience, we have performed a facelift on our vessels, and this premium wi-fi service fits perfectly into the renewed concept, giving the finishing touch,” said Kielo Vesikko, line manager and head of Passenger Services at Finnlines. “The collaboration with Telenor Maritime has been productive, very smooth and flexible, with significant achievements and excellent results. Moving from free to paid service has been smooth, and throughout the six-month pilot period on Finnmaid, the customer feedback has been very positive. Our customers appreciate the possibility to stay connected with high-quality wi-fi during the entire sea voyage.”

Finnlines is the first to install Telenor Maritime’s latest mobile ecosystem.

“Being a part of the Grimaldi Group, one of the world’s largest operators in Europe for both passengers and freight, Finnlines has established its position as an important provider of passenger services in the Baltic Sea,” said Frode Støldal, CEO of Telenor Maritime. “This is an important step for Telenor Maritime’s service-expansion into the Baltic Sea.”
