Luxury cruise operator Paul Gauguin’s 88-guest Tere Moana is to sail a series of seven-night voyages to European wineries this summer.
Tere Moana will sail cruises from the French port of Nice to the Italian port of Rome; the Greek capital of Athens to Venice, Italy; Venice to Rome; Portugal’s port of Lisbon to Barcelona, Spain; and Barcelona to Nice.
Passengers sailing on these itineraries can participate in various winery tours and tasting sessions, local market tours and multi-course dining with wine.
Various French vineyard tours and wine-tasting opportunities also feature on the ship’s itineraries, including a walking tour of Montpellier’s Old Town and a wine tasting at the Château Flaugergues private wine estate in France’s Languedoc region. Passengers can also explore Montpellier’s walled city of Aigues-Mortes and dine at La Compagnie des Comptoirs restaurant, before attending a wine tasting at a boutique winery near Sète. In addition, guests can participate in a scenic walking tour followed by a wine class in St Tropez, or visit a street market and an artisan pork butcher in Villefranche, Nice.
Guests travelling on one of Tere Moana’s Italian voyages can also sample wine and olive oils at La Chiusa Winery, a historic wine estate visited by Napoleon Bonaparte, before exploring the coastal town of Porto Azzurro in Elba, Italy. Other Italian excursions include an olive oil-tasting session and lunch at the Splendido Hotel in Portofino, as well as a vineyard tour in Groppo, Porto Venere.
Alternatively, guests sailing to Croatia can enjoy a gourmet picnic and wine- and olive oil-tasting tours in Hvar, or an excursion to Zadar’s BIBICh Wine Cellar for a vineyard tour and a six- to eight-course lunch paired with wines.
In Palma de Mallorca, Spain, passengers will be able to visit the wine cellars of Macià Batle to see how ancient and contemporary wine-making traditions intersect.
