Thomas Ostebo has stepped down as president and CEO of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
The former US Coast Guard executive began his role at CLIA on 6 July 2015, after he was chosen to replace former president and CEO Christine Duffy when she left to become president of Carnival Cruise Line on 31 January 2015.
“CLIA’s current leadership team is doing an outstanding job supporting our membership and driving the vision of the organisation globally, even during this time of transition," said Adam Goldstein, global CLIA chairman, and president and COO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “While it is unfortunate that Tom is departing CLIA, his desire to put his family first is a testament to his character, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavours.”
Cindy D’Aoust, CLIA’s executive vice president of Membership and Operations, will assume the role of acting CEO and oversee the management of global operations and CLIA leadership teams until a new permanent CEO has been appointed.
