Three cruise ships called simultaneously at the Port of Tarragona in Spain for the first time on 7 October.
Costa Cruises’ Costa Favolosa arrived on 6 October to pick up passengers at the port on its way to Marseille, France. Royal Caribbean International’s Jewel of the Seas docked on 7 October for its first visit to Tarragona, an event that was marked by an exchange of metopes. Finally, Phoenix Reisen’s Artania arrived at the port en route from Cadiz, Spain, to Toulon, France.
The handling of all three ships was made possible by the construction of the Balears Pier. The new infrastructure was inaugurated in October 2021 and was designed to help streamline the arrival and departure of cruise ships in Tarragona. Global Ports Holding acquired the concession for the cruise terminal and have been operating in Tarragona since February 2021.
Since the start of the cruise season, 24 cruise ships have docked at the Balears Pier, bringing approximately 47,000 passengers to Tarragona.
