The Turkish Port of Trabzon has applied to become a member of the MedCruise Association, which currently has 70 member ports.

Visiting Trabzon, MedCruise president Stavros Hatzakos and the association’s secretary-general Thanos Pallis joined the city’s governor the Honorable A Celil Öz and the mayor O Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu to discuss the prospect of expanding the region’s cruise infrastructure. Trabzon Port’s general manager Muzaffer Ermiş and M Suat Hacisalihoğlu, the president of Trabzon’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry also attended the meeting.

The Port of Istanbul has also applied to become a member of MedCruise at the same time as Trabzon. It is expected that both applications will be formalised during the 44th MedCruise General Assembly, which will be held in Castellon, Spain, from 21-25 May 2014.

MedCruise member ports attract more than 80% of cruise traffic in the Mediterranean and its adjoining seas.
