Spanish operator Trasmapi has launched a new eco-catamaran between the ports of Ibiza and Formentera.

Castaví Jet, which previously sailed as Turgut Reis 1 for IDO Ferries, can accommodate both passengers and vehicles and was extensively modernised before entering service.

Redesigned by naval architecture firm Rafael Velasco Ingenieria Naval, the vessel features refurbished interiors, a new passenger boarding point, a new aft ramp and additional outdoor passenger areas.

In addition, the vessel has been extended to reduce the hull resistance, increasing operating efficiency and reducing fuel costs, while the weight has been reduced. The ferry’s engine room has also been retrofitted with four Mitsubishi engines and four high efficiency propellers from Eliche Radice. Balino-Progener has also installed new bow thrusters, while Survitec Group has replaced the ship’s life rafts and marine evacuation systems
