French cruise line Ponant has acquired some of the business assets of New York City-based Travel Dynamics International, which operates educational programmes onboard small cruise ships.
Branded Ponant, Cultural Cruises & Exhibitions, the new company will offer cruise programmes for the American market.
By acquiring Travel Dynamics, Ponant, which offers destination-rich expedition cruises on a fleet of yacht-style vessels, intends to become the first luxury cruise line to develop enrichment programmes with a focus on cultural voyages and expeditions to all seven continents.
“With the acquisition, Ponant aims to strengthen its business in the US,” said the company in a statement. “The cruise line will remain committed to investing in and reinforcing its existing strategic and historical partnerships in the US, notably with Abercrombie & Kent, Gohaga & Company and Tauck.”
