Aries Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Trieste has developed a new web-based database for a range of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the marine industry in Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) region.

The FVG Cruise Industry Cluster portal contains details of companies operating in connection with Fincantieri Shipyard, which is headquartered in the region. Fincantieri – which generates a large proportion of the region’s economic revenue – has developed a network of more than 400 enterprises offering naval engineering, project planning, mechanical and naval carpentry, outfitting and refurbishment services, as well as furniture and other equipment for the passenger shipping industry.

Funded by the FVG region, the database enables SMEs to promote their products and services on the competitive international market, while allowing overseas companies to approach them.

“The website provides a database of the top-level enterprises, which offer advanced planning, design, technological and manufacturing skills for the maritime industry,” said Antonio Paoletti, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Trieste. “The portal aims to connect them with potential foreign partners and allow them to enter the global market.”
