Marine refurbishment specialist Trimline has converted Royal Caribbean International’s Legend of the Seas into TUI Discovery 2 for her new operator Thomson Cruises.
A 200-strong team from Trimline carried out the renovation onboard the 1,832-passenger ship during a six-week dry dock in Cadiz, Spain.
During the refit, the team upgraded 915 cabins and suites and many of the public areas, including 47° Restaurant, Venue Bar, the photography studios, the games room, Bar Eleven, the stage on deck nine, the bar on deck ten, the alleyways, landings and lobbies.
A key highlight of the revitalisation project was the Live Room entertainment venue. Previously split into two areas, the venue is now one open space with a bespoke acoustic ‘floating deck’ stage, a custom-built bar, a raised drinks area with a yellow grand piano, and new bulkheads and deck heads. The laminate pink and blue bulkheads incorporate ceiling discs and LED lighting, which has a customisable system for dimming and changeable colours to suit the requirements of the onboard entertainers.
The project follows a similar one on TUI Discovery last year.
“We were delighted to work with Trimline once again,” said Adrian Hibbert, Thomson Cruises’ director of operations. “The company’s commitment and engagement to the TUI Discovery 2 project has resulted in a fantastic ship that our customers are already raving about.”
