UK-based marine interior design and refit firm Trimline has extended and refurbished Red Falcon, which is operated by Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries.
Lasting eight weeks and involving more than 150 Trimline staff and sub-contractors, the ferry renovation project involved Trimline’s largest steel structural work to date.
Red Falcon, which resumed operation on 4 April, now features two additional passenger lounges on the A Deck, as well as refreshed furniture and flooring. New toilets and an elevator enabling guests to access the new deck – which has an external promenade walk with bench-style seating – have also been installed on A Deck.
“To see the transformation of the Red Falcon is fantastic,” said Murray Carter, operations director at Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries. “When Trimline began the work in February, they had to fight against some pretty terrible weather conditions but they have overcome these challenges and we are delighted with the result. Red Falcon is now a modern and comfortable ferry that passengers will take enjoyment from for many years to come.”
Other updates include the reconfigured B Deck – which now has a large bar and coffee outlet with a seating area – as well as a new information bureau and teak-style seating and wi-fi connection points on the Sun Deck. All of the ship’s walk-in freezers, equipment and counter areas have been updated in the galley, while new tables and chairs have been fitted in the dining areas. In addition, air conditioning systems, wi-fi access, charging points for mobile phones and laptops, TV screens and LED lighting have been fitted throughout the ship.
