UK-based marine refurbishment firm Trimline has completed an extensive refit on Windstar Cruises’ newest ships Star Breeze and Star Legend at the San Giorgio del Porto yard in Genova, Italy.
Trimline secured the contract after completing a successful refurbishment of Star Pride in 2014 and has now renovated all six of Windstar’s ships.
“We are pleased to have partnered with Trimline to renovate all six of our ships,” said Hans Birkholz, Windstar’s CEO. “Both Star Breeze and Star Legend look simply stunning and Trimline certainly has the ability to complete high quality turnkey refits within very quick time frames. The quality of its workmanship is evident in everything the team does, which is why the company continues to be our preferred provider.”
Both Star Breeze and Star Legend now feature new AmphorA restaurants, while the al fresco dining venue Veranda has been fitted with a protected outdoor seating area to enable it to become Candles Restaurant at night. Located on the site of the former swimming pool, the outdoor seating has a new 7m wide archway with an artificial wall.
Trimline also added new teak decking and reupholstered seating in the StarBar, outfitted the Compass Rose lounges and bars with Amtico flooring and contemporary décor, and upgraded the flooring, décor and plantation shutters in the gyms.
In addition, the company converted two rooms into Star Screening Rooms to enable guests to watch movies, and refreshed the Star Signature Shops.
“We are delighted to have been the driving force behind the transformation of all Windstar Cruises’ vessels,” added Mike Oliver, Trimline’s sales and marketing director. “Having worked with Windstar for many years now, we have a deep understanding of their requirements and have been able to anticipate design changes as we’ve progressed. Once again we’ve delivered right on time and exceeded expectations.”
