UK-based marine interior refurbishment firm Trimline is to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2015.

Started as a one-man operation in a garage, Trimline now occupies a purpose-designed 33,000 sq ft facility, which has recently been fitted with a new demonstration galley and electrical department.

The £25 million business delivers bespoke services to an extensive portfolio of cruise clients including Carnival UK, Cunard, P&O Cruises UK, Royal Caribbean International, TUI Cruise, Thomson Cruises, Windstar Cruises, Crystal Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line. The company also works with ferry operators such as Red Funnel, Condor Ferries, DFDS and Stena Line.

“When my father Reg founded the business in 1965, he wanted to give clients the very best tailored solutions and give talented craftsmen career paths that allowed them to realise their full potential,” said Gary Oliver, the company’s chairman. “As he so rightly put it, ‘you’re only as good as the people you employ’ and that is still very much our ethos today. Over the last 50 years, we have shaped the boundaries of design and function, viewing our customers as strategic partners and focusing on the whole asset lifecycle. We’re currently investing heavily in the business and we believe the next 50 years will be even more exciting.”

Trimline started its anniversary celebrations on 16 February – 50 years to the day the business was founded – with a staff party and will commemorate the milestone with events throughout the year. In June, the directors and staff will enjoy a mini-cruise from Hamburg, Germany, to Southampton on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. The directors will also host a dinner at the Hotel du Vin in Winchester, where the company’s clients will be invited to celebrate its continued success.
