UK firm Trimline is to refit the interior of Condor Ferries’ new high-speed ferry before she enters service between Poole and the Channel Islands next March.
During the two-month refurbishment project, which will start in January 2015, Trimline will revamp several existing facilities and design and install new venues onboard the £50 million Austal vessel.
“We are really looking forward to working closely with Trimline on this project, the work is a real partnership between us, Trimline and Austal who designed and manufactured the ship,” said Mark Hodgetts, onboard services director at Condor Ferries. “The design for the onboard layout has been carefully considered and planned – it will offer our passengers more choice across retail and catering with new brands, concepts and menu options.”
The vessel, which was purchased earlier this year, does not currently have catering facilities, so Trimline will design and install a galley and a self-service restaurant. The firm will also fit lighting, seating, catering equipment and serveries that complement Condor Ferries’ colour scheme. Meanwhile, the ship’s Bar, Bureau de Change and Children’s Area will all be renovated, while Trimline will also build new lightweight units for the Duty Free Shop.
Andrew Richards, CEO of Trimline, said: “All of the team at Trimline are delighted to be working with Condor Ferries on this prestigious project it gives us a great opportunity to show how, by collaborating with the project team at Condor, we can deliver modern solution to address passenger comfort, catering and retail needs that will be both cost effective and revenue enhancing for the operator.”
