Carnival Triumph departed Mobile, Alabama on 8 May for Freeport’s Grand Bahama Shipyard to undergo final repairs and other onboard enhancements.

The vessel will also receive the line’s popular Fun Ship 2.0 features including Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, EA Sports Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar.

“With the ship temporarily out of service for repairs, we decided to take the opportunity to add a host of new dining and bar venues that are part of our tremendously popular fleetwide Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement programme,” said Gerry Cahill, president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines.

As part of a US$300 million fleetwide enhancement programme, the line will also install new operating systems to prevent a potential loss of primary power, an additional emergency back-up generator and upgraded fire detection and suppression systems.

Carnival Triumph is scheduled to re-enter service from Galveston, Texas on 13 June 2013 and offer four-day cruises to Cozumel and five-day cruises to Cozumel and Progreso in Mexico.
