German operator TUI Cruises will celebrate its 10th anniversary on 22 April 2018, marking a decade since it was founded as a joint venture between tourism group TUI AG and global cruise operator Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
Over the past 10 years, the company has commissioned six Mein Schiff ships, welcomed a total of 2.2 million guests and visited more than 200 ports worldwide. Further growth is expected in the next two years – a new Mein Schiff 1 will be christened in Hamburg on 11 May 2018 and a new Mein Schiff 2 is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku yard in Finland. When the latter debuts in 2019, TUI Cruises will have a fleet of seven vessels with a capacity of around 17,800 beds. Another ship, Mein Schiff 7, is scheduled for delivery in 2023.
TUI Cruises has scheduled several celebratory activities and events to mark its anniversary throughout 2018.
“I’m looking forward to the next 10 years of TUI Cruises – we have big plans,” said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises. “Of course, we also want to celebrate this with our guests. We have planned various actions that the guests can look forward to. Among other things, in the summer in a raffle on the website raffles trips with the Mein Schiff fleet.”
