TUI Cruises will celebrate the christening of its latest newbuild Mein Schiff 3 with an open-air music concert, a short sight-seeing tour and a fireworks display.
Following Mein Schiff 3’s official naming ceremony – which will take place on 12 June 2014 at Hamburg Cruise Center in Germany – the cruise line will host an hour-long live concert with music from the ship’s godmother Helene Fischer and other artists.
“This open-air live concert is our gift to the ship’s fans and the city of Hamburg,” said Richard Vogel, CEO of TUI. “We want them to be part of this special day.”
At 9.00pm, Mein Schiff 3 will embark on a sight-seeing tour from Hamburg's HafenCity to Teufelsbrück, before taking part in a fireworks display at the St Pauli fish market.
The event has been marketed with the tagline ‘Diamond meets pearl’, which refers to both Hamburg’s status as ‘the pearl of the River Elbe’ and the 167 sq m glass wall in Mein Schiff 3’s stern.
