British model, actress and singer Twiggy (Lesley Lawson) is to christen Emerald Waterways’ Emerald Sky and Emerald Star when they launch in Amsterdam on 9 April 2014.
Twiggy – who gained prominence on the modelling scene in the 1960s – will name the 182-passenger ships during the ceremony, before breaking a bottle of champagne against their hulls in time-honoured maritime tradition.
Both Emerald Star and Emerald Sky will feature 20 staterooms and 72 suites, including the Emerald Panorama Balcony Suites, which incorporate an open-air system and an indoor balcony with chairs and a decking area.
In addition the vessels will have two restaurants, an onboard hairdresser, massage therapy room, a fitness area and a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof, bar and gelati station. The pool area also transforms into a movie theatre in the evening.
All transfers, meals and beverages and shorex fares are included in the price of the cruise. Passengers can enjoy a range of inclusive shore excursions and additional EmeraldPlus excursions, such as glass-blowing demonstrations, a glass-top canal cruise in Amsterdam and a trip on the Winzerexpress mini-train.
Emerald Waterways will offer four itineraries including an eight-day Danube Delights cruise, an 11-day Classic Prague and Danube Delights trip, a 12-day Magical Rhine and Moselle sailing and a 15-day Splendors of Europe cruise.
Emerald Waterways will officially launch as Scenic Tours Group’s new European river cruise line in autumn 2014.
Twiggy previously served as godmother to Seabourn Cruises' Seabourn Soujourn in 2010
