Kelly Bergin and Julie Kendrick to name Emerald Dawn and Emerald Star in Budapest

Emerald Waterways has named two travel agents as godmothers of its new Star-Ships, which will be christened during a dual ceremony in Budapest, Hungary, on 21 August.
Emerald Sun will be launched by Julie Kendrick, head of commercial and operating at Midcounties Co-operative Travel in the UK, who was chosen from 50 other travel agents after entering a social media competition.
Meanwhile, her sister ship Emerald Dawn will be named by Kelly Bergin, president of OASIS, a host agency for independent travel consultants.
Bergin, who has been in the travel industry for more than 25 years, is the. She also serves on the board of directors for the Professional Association of Travel Hosts, the agent advisory board for Cruise Lines International Association and the leadership committee for the South Florida Chapter of the National Association of Career Travel Agents.
“It is truly an exciting honour to be selected as the godmother of the new Emerald Dawn and to be part of the Emerald Waterways brand, which represents the best of what our industry has to offer,” said Bergin. “As an early convert and proponent of the river cruise experience, I use every opportunity to sing the praises of river cruising to our agents and extol the tremendous value it offers to their clients. I look forward to continue this effort on behalf of Emerald Waterways.”
Emerald Dawn and Emerald Sun will each carry 182 guests in 72 suites and 20 staterooms, including two solo rooms. All of the suites and cabins will feature an indoor balcony with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, a decked area and the line’s open-air system.
The vessels will also feature a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof, which transforms into a movie theatre in the evening; two restaurants; a hairdresser; a massage therapy room; and a fitness area.
