Un-Cruise Adventures has become a member of the Passenger Vessel Association’s (PVA) Green WATERS Program, highlighting its commitment to improving the marine environment.
As a member of the WATERS (We Are Taking Environmental Responsibility/Stewardship) programme, the line has voluntarily implemented procedures to conserve more potable water, reduce waste, recycle whenever possible, lower fuel consumption, improve operating efficiency.
The line also follows ‘Leave No Trace’ practices on all voyages, purchases eco-friendly products for use onboard the ship and explores remote areas in small groups to minimise its environmental impact.
“We are committed to operating responsibly as we explore in some of the most scenic and awe inspiring places on earth,” said Dan Blanchard, CEO of Un-Cruise Adventures.
Un-Cruise Adventures has also implemented green procedures to increase energy efficiency in its offices in Seattle, Washington, and Juneau, Alaska. In addition, it supports native communities by purchasing local products and hiring local staff.
“I commend Un-Cruise Adventures for its dedication to the marine environment because America’s waterways depend on organisations like this that strive to make a difference for cleaner water for everyone to enjoy,” said John Groundwater, PVA’s executive director.
Un-Cruise Adventures has also partnered with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch programme to ensure it only serves seafood caught or farmed in a sustainable, ocean-friendly way.
