Un-Cruise Adventures’ 88-guest SS Legacy is to sail four new wine-centric cruises along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, North America, in 2015.
The ship will offer weeklong ‘Ameritage! Four Rivers of Wine & History’ roundtrips from Portland, Oregon, departing on 15, 22, 29 August and 5 September.
Sailing on four rivers – Columbia, Snake, Willamette and Palouse – the vessel will visit wine regions in Washington and Oregon, while a local wine expert will lead onboard presentations and wine-tasting sessions.
Guests will also call at nine wineries including Springhouse Cellars, Maryhill Winery, AniChe Cellars, Bergevin Lane, Dunham Cellars, Terra Blanca, Sunshine Mill Winery and the Wine Shack in Cannon Beach.
“The diversity of experience found in the Columbia River region is phenomenal – waterfalls, Lewis and Clark history, monuments and museums, rainforest and wheat fields, locks and dams, but also world-class appellations and wineries,” said Captain Dan Blanchard, CEO of Un-Cruise. “This new itinerary dedicates more time ashore to visiting these wineries and enjoying expert wine and food pairings onboard the SS Legacy.”
Other highlights on the trip include a cruise through the Columbia River Gorge and visits to Hood River, Walla Walla, Astoria and Cannon Beach. Guests can also enjoy excursions to Multnomah Falls, Maryhill Museum, Hanford Interpretive Center and Whitman Mission, as well as a skiff ride to Palouse Falls.
Designed to replicate the coastal steamers that sailed on US rivers in the early 1900s, SS Legacy features a dining room, a lounge with dance floor, s wine bar and Pesky Barnacle Saloon. The three-deck ship also has two hot tubs, a sauna, a massage parlour, fitness equipment and yoga classes.
SS Legacy will also sail a week-long ‘Legacy of Discovery’ itinerary on the Columbia and Snake Rivers from August to November 2014 and April to November 2015.
