Royal Caribbean’s Splendour of the Seas has gone into the Navantia shipyard in Spain for a five week refit.

The refit, which will cost US$35 million, is part of the line’s Royal Advantage programme, and will include new dining venues Chops Grille, Izumi, the Boardwalk Dog House, Chef’s Table and the Park Café. The ship will also get the new Royal Babies and Tots Nursery, a Diamond Lounge for Crown and Anchor loyalty guests, a Concierge Lounge for suite guests and upgraded technology throughout.

Additionally, the ship will be fitted with 124 new balconies and its range of new stateroom amenities including flat panel televisions. Other features being added include ship-wide wifi, a digital way finding system, electronic mustering and an outdoor movie screen.

Upon completion of the refurbishments on 25 November, Splendour will sail a transatlantic voyage from Lisbon to her seasonal homeport of São Paulo in Brazil. From there she will offer a variety of South American itineraries for the rest of the summer season in Brazil.
