Coast Guard aims to tighten security screening at US cruise terminals
USCG targets terminal security

By Rebecca Gibson |

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has proposed several amendments to its regulations on cruise ship terminal security.

Proposed to ensure a consistent security level at terminals throughout the US, the rule aims to standardise screening activities for all persons, baggage and personal effects at cruise ship terminals. It would also permit an appropriate degree of flexibility that accommodates and is consistent with different terminal sizes and operations.

The USCG has also indicated the need to eliminate several redundancies in current regulations.
