Valmet is to supply exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubbers) for TUI Cruises Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff 8 newbuilds, which are currently under construction at the Meyer Turku yard in Turku, Finland.

The company, which has previously supplied scrubber systems for four TUI cruise ships, will deliver the equipment for the first vessel in the fourth quarter of 2016 and to the second in the first quarter of 2017.

“We are proud to continue the supply of our technology to the TUI fleet,” said Anssi Mäkelä, senior manager of marine scrubber systems at Valmet. “Our scrubber system will ensure for the ships a modern, reliable exhaust gas cleaning system.”

Valmet will deliver integrated hybrid scrubber systems for both engine rooms and all auxiliary systems with automation. The exhaust gas is washed with seawater in open loop mode and with recirculated water and alkali in closed loop mode. Wash water is cleaned with Valmet's patented water treatment system.
