US travel company Vantage Travel is to launch River Voyager, its first six-star river cruise ship in March 2016.

River Voyager will join four of the company’s existing five-star vessels – the newly refurbished River Navigator, River Venture, River Splendor and River Discovery II.

Able to accommodate 176 guests, River Voyager has single rooms for solo travellers, staterooms with French balconies and suites named in honour of jazz artists Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie.

The jazz-themed vessel features a new Blue Note lounge and the Bourbon Street Bistro dining room, which will offer European dishes, vegetarian and lighter meals, and a salad bar for lunch. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, dinner is served with complimentary wine using Villeroy & Boch dinnerware and silverware.

Other highlights include a massage studio and fitness suite; a running track on the upper Solaris deck; bicycles that can be used during shore excursions; and the new Cotton Club Lounge at the rear of the ship. This venue has floor-to-ceiling windows and offers a buffet-style menu featuring healthy spa cuisine and lighter menu choices.

River Voyager’s launch also marks the first time that Vantage Travel has enabled UK guests to book its European river cruises online and via travel agents throughout the UK.
