Victory Cruise Lines has acquired a second ship to sail alongside Victory I, which began service in North America’s Great Lakes region in July 2016.

Originally built as Cape Cod Light for American Classic Voyages, the new 202-passenger ship has been sailing as Sea Discoverer for Bahamas-based Clipper Group since 2011. Victory II will be upgraded this autumn to ensure she offers the same onboard experience and standards as Victory I.

According to reports, Cruise Management International will provide deck and engine management, while sister company CMI Leisure will handle hotel operations.

Victory II will begin service with a series of seven-night Canada and New England cruises from Gloucester in Boston, Massachusetts to Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada), embarking on her maiden cruise on 20 May 2018.

Itineraries departing from Gloucester will call at Provincetown on Cape Cod, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Plymouth, Massachusetts; Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Cape Cod; Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine; and Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Sailings will also include scenic cruising in the Cape Cod Canal, and will operate in reverse from Halifax.

The ship will also sail six ‘St. Lawrence Seaway and French Canadian Martimes’ cruises between Halifax and Detroit, Michigan – three in June and three in August. In July, she will offer three ‘Western Lake Superior’ voyages between Milwaukee in Wisconsin, to Thunder Bay in Ontario (Canada), and Detroit.

The acquisition follows the recent news that Victory Cruise Lines has now secured permission to operate cruises between the US and Cuba.
