Videotel’s Crisis Management & Human Behaviour Training Course has been formally approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for use worldwide.
The e-learning course, which is the first of its kind to receive MCA approval, was developed in cooperation with the International Maritime Organization, Royal Caribbean International and the Cruise Lines International Association in response to the 2010 Manila Amendments to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Code.
“The Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention places crew and passenger safety in the event of an emergency situation at the top of the agenda,” said Nigel Cleave, CEO of Videotel. “It is essential that all those having such responsibility onboard ship are fully aware of the international rules and regulations and trained accordingly.”
Aimed at all personnel who are responsible for crew and passenger safety during emergencies, the interactive e-learning course teaches participants about the key factors of onboard emergency management. This includes how to assess and respond to a crisis using available resources, and how to control and communicate with large numbers of passengers and crew members during an emergency.
Participants must complete multiple choice on-screen tests after each module, plus a longer final test comprised of random questions at the end of the training course.
