Marine and offshore safety equipment manufacturer Viking Life-Saving Equipment has launched the first lifejacket to be approved according to new stringent lifejacket performance standards, as well as existing thermal requirements.

Designed with a built-in neoprene torso that covers core areas to protect the wearer against a loss of body temperature, the SOLAS-approved PV9720 lifejacket is the first to meet regulations outlined in MSC 200 and thermal protection standards indicated in MSC/Circ. 922.

“Our new thermal lifejacket has already been warmly welcomed onboard offshore supply vessels, accommodation platforms, pipe laying barges, passenger ferries and others,” said Benny Carlsen, vice president of Viking.

A slim profile design enables users to turn easily for enhanced field of vision and reach, while storage space is reduced by almost a fifth.
