Viking Line carried a record 1.02 million passengers in July 2017, a 9% rise from the same period in 2016.
The biggest growth was recorded on the route between Helsinki, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia, where Viking Line offered 12 daily departures. Passenger numbers hit 378,704 in July, up by 24% from July 2016.
Routes between Stockholm in Sweden and Mariehamn in Åland, as well as Mariehamn and Kapellskär in Sweden, both welcomed more passengers than last year. Meanwhile, passenger volumes on the long routes between Finland and Sweden were stable.
In addition, the share of international customers was higher than in previous years.
“We are very satisfied with the trend of passenger numbers in July and are pleased that so many people are choosing to travel on our vessels,” said Jan Hanses, president and CEO of Viking Line. “The price competition this summer has been fierce, which has benefited customers.”
