Viking Line has started renovation work onboard Viking XPRS, which sails between Helsinki in Finland and Tallinn in Estonia.

Scheduled to be completed this summer, the refit will largely take place while the ship is in service, rather than in a drydock. Many of the improvements will be carried out based on feedback from passengers.

“We are investing in onboard comfort and services to offer our customers the experiences that they want,” said Kaj Takolander, Viking Line’s head of sales and marketing for Finland and the Baltics. “For example, many of them look forward to first-class restaurant services even during short sea voyages.”

From February, the ship will offer a new à la carte restaurant – Wine & Dine – and a new shop offering a selection of clothing, jewellery, watches and shoes.

In March, the Red Rose restaurant will be refurbished with a new stage, streamlined payment areas, a larger playroom and an increased cafe menu.

Viking will also modernise the foyer of the conference area, while the outdoor seating areas will be expanded and outfitted with new furniture.
