More than 2.3 million passengers travelled on Viking Line’s ferries between June and August, reaching a record high in July when passenger volume on all routes reached 945,343.

Similar to last year, Viking Line offered an expanded summer service on Mariella and Gabriella on the route between Helsinki in Finland and Tallinn in Estonia. Although the ferries offered 46 fewer sailings than in summer 2014, passenger numbers still reached 734,000 on the Helsinki-Tallinn route from June-August this year.

“We are pleased with this summer’s passenger figures and the extra sailings to Tallinn that we put in service were successful,” said Jan Hanses, president and CEO of Viking Line.

More than one million passengers travelled between Turku, Helsinki and Åland Islands in Finland and Stockholm in Sweden over the three months, a rise of 1.6% from 2014.

The Turku–Åland Islands–Stockholm route handled 2.3% more passengers (688,000), while passenger numbers on the Helsinki–Åland–Stockholm rose by 0.2% to 316,000. Meanwhile, Viking Cinderella transported more than 278,000 passengers on its route from Stockholm to Mariehamn in Åland this summer, a rise of 10.4% from summer 2014.
