Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady is to sail her first official voyage on 6 August from Portsmouth, UK. She will be berthed at the port for her six sailings around the UK this summer.
The first of four ships to be built for Virgin Voyages, Scarlet Lady has 1,330 cabins and 78 ‘Rockstar Quarters’, with 86 per cent of cabins featuring a balcony. Dining venues include The Wake and The Dock restaurants, while The Red Room is the first multi-form theatre at sea.
“With our expansive food and beverage options, beautiful spa, amazing crew and festival-style lineup of on-board entertainment, Scarlet Lady challenges the status quo in every way,” said Tom McAlpin, president and CEO of Virgin Voyages. “Not only are we committed to helping our Sailors create the most memorable vacation, but we want to provide the safest travel experience possible without compromising on the fun we all deserve.”
Only UK residents will be able to sail on the series of cruises, with passengers required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least two weeks before departure. Virgin Voyages will meet the crew vaccination requirements set out by the UK government in its Covid Mitigation Framework, and is working with local health departments, port authorities, the Department of Transportation and the UK Chamber of Shipping on the implementation of health protocols.
Following her UK season, Scarlet Lady will sail to Miami, US, for a series of Caribbean cruises. Virgin Voyages will debut its second ship, Valiant Lady, from Portsmouth in 2022, with three new itineraries.
