Small-ship operator Voyages of Discovery is to make 17 maiden calls, visit 102 ports in 25 countries, offer 27 overnights and operate seven no-fly cruises from Portsmouth, UK in summer 2017.

Voyager’s summer 2017 season will open on 2 May with a 16-day ‘Treasures of the Baltic Seas’ cruise, which calls at six countries and includes a visit to Tallinn in Estonia, a two-night stay in St Petersburg in Russia and a transit of the Kiel Canal, Germany.

Other highlights will include a five-day ‘Voyager Discovery’ roundtrip from Portsmouth on 27 May and call at Guernsey and the French ports of St Malo and Honfleur; a 14-day ‘Ireland’s Heritage’ voyage to nine Irish ports including Galway, Londonderry, Belfast and Dublin; and a 12-day ‘Britain’s Beautiful Isles’ cruise. Ports of call will include the Shetland and Orkney Isles, the Isles of Lewis, Skye, Mull, Scilly and Guernsey.

“Our passengers always tell us how much they enjoy being able to really immerse themselves in each destination, with this is mind we have 25 overnight stays during our summer 2017 season, including St Petersburg, Bordeaux, Rouen, Barcelona and Venice,” said Lynn Cornish, director of planning and product ocean cruising at Voyages of Discovery. “All of our cruises have an exciting programme of optional shore excursions from Mont St Michel in St Malo to Monet’s Garden in Giverny and Funchal’s Botanical Gardens to the Sete Cidades Crater Lakes in the Azores.” Voyages of Discovery has also partnered with the National Trust to create a 15-day ‘Icelandic Insights’ cruise, which will take guests to the Port of Tyne in north-east England, the Faroe Islands and the Icelandic ports of Akureyri, Isafjordur, Reykjavik and Heimaey. The ship will then sail to Liverpool, UK before returning to Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, the line has partnered with RHS Garden Holidays to develop the ‘Sail South to the Sun’ itinerary to Barcelona and Vigo on Spain’s Galician coast.

Voyager’s season ends with a 13-day ‘Quintessential Canaries’ cruise around the Canary Islands and Madeira. On this voyage, guests will be able to visit volcano Mount Teide on Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.
