Voyages of Discovery to offer 'winter paradise' cruises

Small ship operator Voyages of Discovery is to offer cruises to Madagascar, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, the Seychelles, the Maldives, South Africa and Dubai, United Arab Emirates in winter 2017-2018.

Flagship Voyager will begin the season with a departure from Tenerife on 29 November 2017 with a 22-day cruise to Cape Town, calling at Cape Verde, St Helena and Ascension.

For Christmas and New Year, Voyager will offer a 15-day cruise along the southern coast of Africa from Cape Town to Mozambique, stopping at Port Elizabeth, East London, Richards Bay which is the gateway to Zululand, and Durban.

RHS Garden Holidays has also partnered with Voyages of Discovery to offer a 15-day flora and fauna cruise from Cape Town to Mauritius, with calls at Reunion Island and Madagascar. Highlights during the cruise, which departs on 3 January 2018, are the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens in Port Louis, a safari and a trip to the active Piton de la Fournaise volcano on Reunion Island.

Voyager then embarks on a 16-day island-hopping cruise from Mauritius on 17 January, taking in three of the islands in the Seychelles, Male and the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo. The cruise includes a number of overnight stays.

From Sri Lanka, Voyager cruises up the west coast of India with five ports calls before crossing the Arabian Sea to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Voyager’s final cruise of the season take her from Dubai to Greece with a transit through the Suez Canal.

“Voyages of Discovery is cruising to paradise for the winter 2017-2018 season, calling at the picturesque islands of Mauritius, the Maldives, the Seychelles and Sri Lanka,” said Lynn Cornish, director of planning and product ocean cruising at Voyages of Discovery. “Passengers on Voyages of Discovery’s winter season will have the opportunity to experience the destinations that we call at through the optional excursions, which include the Addo Elephant Park in Port Elizabeth and a cruise on Lake St Lucia in Richards Bay.”

For those guests looking to extend their holiday, Voyages of Discovery has organised options pre- and post-cruise extensions, including stays in India, Dubai, Cape Town, Athens and Mauritius.
