V.Ships Leisure has been contracted as the official ship management services partner for Blue Star Line’s Titanic II project, which has been spearheaded by the line’s chairman Clive Palmer.

V.Ships Leisure CEO Andrea Zito said: “We are very pleased to be part of the team that will recreate this iconic ship in a project which will combine our current know-how with our heritage.”

Titanic II is currently under construction at the state-owned CSC Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China and is scheduled for delivery in 2016. The vessel will then embark on its maiden voyage, retracing the original route from Southampton, UK, to New York, US.

“Titanic II will be a regular feature on the transatlantic route between the UK and US,” said Palmer. “This magnificent vessel is being constructed in memory of the heroic people who served on the first ship, as well as the passengers who sadly shared their fate.”
