Windstar Cruises is preparing its flagship sailing vessel, Wind Surf, for phase one of a major renovation project taking place in Cadiz, Spain in November.
The multi-million-dollar renovation will include a redesign of many of Wind Surf’s public spaces, introducing new layouts, furniture, wall and floor coverings, lighting and custom art, as well as updates to premium suites. New technology will be added throughout the ship, including new interactive TVs in all guest staterooms.
Phase one of the renovation will introduce additional seating options to the lobby, as well as an interior design inspired by boutique hotels. The retail area will be expanded and redesigned to recall the shopping experience of a luxury brand’s store, while the Compass Rose lounge will feature a modern décor with blue and orange details, as well as a new bar and multi-purpose stage area.
Amphora, Wind Surf’s main dining room, will be refreshed with a design concept that that incorporates elements of the sea such as pearls, smooth stones and sea glass into the new architecture and furniture details. Complementing colour tones were inspired by the horizon at sunset. New seating arrangements include curved booths to seat two to eight people and new larger dining chairs.
The use of natural colours on the pool deck is intended to convey the feel of a beach scene
The pool deck and pool bar will also see changes, with tropical scenes and greenery added to the bar to create a natural, outdoor atmosphere. Natural colours are intended to convey a beach scene, while new tiling on the two whirlpools takes the form of ocean waves. There will also be a variety of new outdoor furniture.
Wind Surf’s accommodation options are set to be renewed, starting with the introduction of Windstar’s themed Broadmoor and Sea Island suites. These rooms, inspired by sister resorts The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia, USA, currently appear in Windstar’s all-suite Star Plus-class yachts. The existing Owner’s Suite, located directly behind the bridge, will also be redesigned with an elevated nautical interior.

“Wind Surf is a hugely popular choice among our longtime Windstar guests,” said Stijn Creupelandt, chief operating officer of Windstar Cruises. “Many of our guests return each year to sail on this yacht, and we’re thrilled to offer a refreshed atmosphere and updated technology on board to enhance their comfort. I can’t wait to personally welcome our guests during the holiday sailing and celebrate this exciting transformation in a festive setting.”
The second phase of the renovation will add new furniture, soft goods and décor to Wind Surf’s staterooms, along with updates to the Stella Bistro, Veranda restaurant and the fitness studio. The project is set to be completed in December 2026.
Windstar’s other two Wind Class ships, Wind Star and Wind Spirit, are also set to undergo renovations as part of a multi-year initiative. Wind Star has completed phase one of improvements, with phase two scheduled for April 2026. Wind Spirit’s phase one, meanwhile, will be undergoing its phase one in April 2026, followed by phase two in 2027.
