Windstar Cruises’ newest ship, Star Seeker, will sail itineraries to Alaska and Japan when it joins the fleet in 2026.

Star Seeker will sail seven-, 10- and 11-day cruises in Alaska from May to August between Juneau or Seward in Alaska and Vancouver, Canada. In late August, the ship will reposition to Japan, for a 10-day ‘Grand Japan’ itinerary between Tokyo and Osaka. The ship will remain in Japan until November.

“We are really happy to be able to bring back Alaska and Japan for our guests,” said Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises. “We know these are popular destinations, and we have many people asking us to return there.”

Star Seeker and a second newbuild, Star Explorer, are currently under construction at Portugal’s West Sea shipyard. The ships, which are expected to be delivered in December 2025 and December 2026 respectively, will have 112 suites for a guest capacity of 224 and will be similar to the line’s current Star-class yachts.

In Alaska, expedition leaders will guide passengers to explore remote areas such as Misty Fjords. They will also coordinate hiking, kayaking and skiff expeditions, all led by an expert guide, and give onboard presentations to ‘bring Alaska’s rich history, culture, flora and fauna to life’, says Windstar Cruises.

“These immersive, small group expeditions are a key part of our Alaska program and bring our guests closer to the beauty of Alaska,” said Prelog. “Being on the water and seeing the topography from that viewpoint brings the grandeur of Alaska into perspective. It’s also quiet and meditative to be out in these wild places. You never know what wildlife you might see.”
