Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Equinox will be the first ship to call at the new port of Gaženica when she sails into Croatia on 11 July.

Relocated from the city of Zadar, the new passenger port in Gaženica has 12 berths – including seven for local traffic and five for international vessels – and can cater for cruise ships of various sizes. The longest quay is 375 metres in length and has a 13 m draft.
Providing an extended berthing capacity for larger international ferries, cruise ships and ro-ro vessels, the port also enhances onshore facilities for passengers and vehicles and improves links between the various ferry terminals along the Croatian coast. It also links Zadar, Croatia’s islands and other countries in the Mediterranean region.

Zadar Port Authority began the relocation project in May 2009 with the support of the Government of Croatia, and is also working to establish a new motorway network to connect the port to Zadar airport, Zagreb and other areas of Croatia. This will enable Croatia to develop its tourism sector.
