Queen Elizabeth became the second Cunard Line ship to call at Zayed Port this year when she visited Abu Dhabi on 14 April.

Marking the first time the United Arab Emirates port has welcomed two Cunard ships in one cruise season, Queen Elizabeth’s visit was part of her current world tour, which will conclude in the UK port of Southampton. Her sister ship Queen Mary visited Zayed in January.

“Abu Dhabi is an exciting city with so much to see and do, this season more than 4,700 Cunard cruise passengers have explored the Emirates, taking tours, visiting our tourist attractions and enjoying some of our fabulous shopping malls,” said Noura Rashid Al Dhaheri. “Abu Dhabi Ports is delighted to be able to congratulate its customer Cunard on reaching this wonderful historic anniversary and wishes the company well for its continued celebrations later this year.”

To commemorate the ship’s visit and Cunard’s 175th anniversary this year, Abdulkareem Al Masabi, vice president of operations at Abu Dhabi Ports, and Noura Rashid Al Dhaheri, Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal manager, presented her captain Inger Klein Thorhauge with a cake and a model dhow.

Meanwhile, guests were greeted by traditional Al Ayala dancers, a henna artists and a falconer, and were also able to sample Emirati food.
