Cruise & Ferry Review - Autumn/Winter 2020
2 1 6 “Port of Zadar Authority is developing projects for the implementation of renewable energy sources in the port area. Part of the parking areas will be covered with photovoltaic panels and we are considering implementation of other energy sources in port areas. Regarding post-Covid-19 cruising, the drafting of EU Directives related to the protection of passengers and port users is actively monitored, as well as instructions from local civil protection headquarters. From mid-July, cruiser traffic has been possible with certain restrictions – allowing cruise ships up to a maximum of 200 passengers and accepting cruise ships in lay-up mode.” Djoni Stambuk, assistant to GM Port of Zadar Authority “The Port of Motril-Granada has implemented a new Safe Harbor campaign that represents an improvement for clients and associates and enhances the competitiveness of the Port of Motril-Granada and the cruise industry, through an ambitious action plan for prevention and safety. The plan incorporates global security measures for the control and access to buildings and the docks of the Port of Motril-Granada, a passenger guarantee relating to control and access measures for ferries and cruise ships, and a plan for safe interaction between the port and the city of Granada.” Lorenzo Vera Franco, manager The Port of Motril-Granada “Port of Tallinn cooperates with cruise lines and relevant authorities to guarantee the safety of the local people, cruise passengers and crew members. We are: reducing the physical contacts between individuals with physical barriers, markings, announcements etc; ensuring the availability of personnel to monitor and, if necessary, organise the dispersal of passengers; guaranteeing the installation and availability of disinfectant at possible contact points; increasing the cleaning frequency of different surfaces and rooms; and providing adequate personal protective equipment for all our employees.” Sirle Arro, head of marketing and communication, Port of Tallinn COVER STORY During the period of reduced shipping activity, Port of Zadar spent time on initiatives to improve environmental sustainability, including the installation of solar panels
