3 1 CITA Marine Furniture & Architecture is a Turkish manufacturer and supplier of International Maritime Organization-certified fixed and movable furniture for the marine industry. The company has been working in the industry for over 25 years, carrying out both shipbuilding and refit projects. Two projects currently scheduled for the company are the refurbishments of Stena Line’s Stena Mersey and Stena Lagan, which will see the ships extended significantly. CITA Marine will be supplying furniture for the project, which will see a total of 109 passenger cabins added and public areas onboard renovated. Mexican ferry operator Baja Ferries has installed Carus’s CarRes reservation system and the Winpos Point of Sale solution to digitalise their services. The CarRes system will manage bookings and operations for both passengers and freight, while Windpos Point of Sale will allow Baja Ferries to manage and integrate its sales onboard its four vessels. Carus will also deliver its online booking platform for the operator. Australian shipbuilding company Austal held a side-by-side ‘sprint’ with the 118-metre Bajamar Express and 83-metre Queen Beetle trimaran ferries off the coast of Perth, Australia to showcase its high-speed technology. Bajamar Express was departing Australia on her delivery voyage to the Canary Islands when she was joined by Queen Beetle during her sea trials. “Seeing Bajamar Express side by side with Queen Beetle really does highlight Austal’s success in developing the trimaran hull as an effective high-speed commercial maritime transport solution,” said Austal’s CEO David Singleton. A fleet of 20 boats will operate on the River Thames, departing from 23 piers across London.
