3 3 F. Ball and Co. Ltd offers specialist levelling compounds Floor levelling compounds are essential for the installation of carpets, vinyl and other floor coverings onboard a cruise ship. They are designed to provide a perfectly smooth surface only a few millimetres thick over the existing ship deck onto which the floor covering will be installed. F. Ball and Co. Ltd’s specialist levelling compounds, Stopgap 700 Superflex and Stopgap 1200 Pro, ensure the aesthetic appearance of the floor covering is optimised throughout the lifetime of the installation; maintaining its integrity when walked on by thousands of passengers, along with heavy luggage. They are formulated to have a degree of flexibility to cope with the stresses and strains encountered by ocean- going vessels, without cracking or becoming compromised in any way. Cruise software development company Sourcetoad has released its Cruise Mobile Apps 2020 Annual Report , revealing the trends, features and technology tools in passenger shipping. The report has been revised following the outbreak of Covid-19 to take account of the impact the pause in cruise operations has had on app development. Sourcetoad is now predicting that a period of innovation will follow the pandemic, with development now likely to prioritise more health and safety features, contactless options and crowd control systems. The MXP Protect suite of applications has been released on MarineXchange’s MXP enterprise platform for the cruise industry. Cruise companies can use MXP Protect to carry out the logging of rapid tests and temperature measurements, contact tracing and capacity control. Special reporting, auto-notifications and biometric technologies are also among the features included in the suite.
