Cruise & Ferry Interiors 2020

1 7 Zaria Forman documents climate change with her large-scale pastel drawings “The exhibit will be a shared experience, enabling our guests to feel part of something much larger than their own individual observations,” said Forman. “And hopefully it will guide them down the path closest to my heart – to be so moved by the landscapes that lay in front them, they will want to protect and preserve them.” Art will also be a central feature in the design of Brittany Ferries’ new ship Honfleur when she enters service between Portsmouth, UK and Caen, France. Seven artists have been commissioned to create original works inspired by the French town from which the ship takes her name, as well as the Impressionist artists who painted extensively in the surrounding region. Meanwhile, Cunard has recently revealed a unique project which will see British sculptor Sam Shendi creating a sculpture from the first piece of steel cut for its yet-to-be-named new ship. The piece will be displayed onboard for guests to enjoy. “To be given the task of creating a sculpture from the first piece of steel cut for the new ship is such a unique opportunity,” said Shendi. “It would be exciting for any artist to be part of such a long history and know that their artwork will travel the world on a ship, connecting guests from all corners of the globe.” CFI
