Cruise & Ferry Review - Autumn/Winter 2021
1 0 6 REPORT T he only way is up for Northern Ireland-based cruise ship outfitter MJM Marine (MJM) after a challenging year feeling the effects of the global pandemic. But with an ever- growing order book, the remainder of 2021 and 2022 is looking very buoyant. MJM is committed to working closely with operators and suppliers as the cruise industry continues to adapt to a new way of operating. Throughout these challenging times, the business has continued to engage with clients and help prepare them for the industry’s return. The interior outfitter has secured over 30 contracts for 2021, including fleet-wide upgrades to medical facilities onboard a number of cruise ships. As well as securing new contracts, MJM has begun working on projects which had previously paused due to the pandemic. Due to this increasing pipeline of work, MJM is now in a period of ongoing recruitment to fulfil demand. As well as a commitment to investing in staff well-being, training and development, the business has worked hard to achieve its Investors in People Gold accreditation and maintain its Bronze Diversity Mark, continually working towards a positive gender balance within the business and the industry as a whole. In November, the team will attend Cruise Ship Interiors Expo America in Miami, Florida, where it will showcase its global expertise in project management, in-house manufacturing facilities and latest product innovations. “There is no doubt about it – the last 18 months is among the most challenging we have ever faced as a company, but we are strong and resilient and are rising to the challenges,” says Gary Annett, CEO of MJM. “I am particularly looking forward to getting out with our team to the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo America. This will be the kick-start the industry needs to bring us all back together again.” CFR MJM Marine has weathered the challenges created by Covid-19 and is emerging stronger than ever, with a full order book and staff well-being front of mind A sea of opportunity MJM Marine has retained its Bronze Diversity Mark since it was first awarded in 2020
