A new version of the chair has been produced by design studio Magis. Vinyl which is exposed to direct sunlight over long periods can lead to the build-up of considerable heat. Not only is this uncomfortable to sit on, but it can also cause fading, stretching, and splitting. The Mariner range from Malone Fabrics uses specialised cool colour pigments that remit up to 80 per cent of the radiation in sunlight reducing the heating of the surface up to 25 per cent. This improves customer comfort and increases the life of the material. In addition, it is chlorine and salt water resistant, weather resistant, oil resistant, light fast and long lasting. The range comprises of the Naples, Miami, and Venice collections, all of which have different surfaces and coordinating colours.
