The smooth, non-porous and durable surface of coated fabrics is highly resistant to scratches and cracks, where microbes may thrive. In addition, they are easily cleanable to promote good maintenance practices by simplifying disinfection methods. A specification change was spotted during this refit that was implemented onboard Spirit of France in Tilbury, UK and Pride of Kent in Newcastle, UK. Skopos Pro-tect Plus will offer a choice of antimicrobial fabrics and soft furnishings, including drapery fabrics, woven upholstery fabrics, faux leather and vinyl. These will include Skopos’s new collection, The Silk Roads, which offers woven decorative fire retardant fabrics for curtains and bedding, combining influences from both Eastern and Western cultures.
